Privacy Policy for Mimblo
Last updated: 3 November 2026
Mimblo ("the app", "we") is a virtual pet game for iPhone and iPad made by Black Pear. This policy explains what information the app uses and why. The short version: Mimblo does not collect any personal information, everything stays on your device, there are no ads, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
What stays on your device
Your pet, your nickname, your coins and items, your friends list, your daily progress and your settings (such as sound, vibration, play-time limits and reminders) are stored on your device only. None of it is sent to us, and we cannot see it. A parent PIN, if a grown-up sets one, is kept in the iOS Keychain as a one-way scrambled value. The app never stores or shows the PIN itself.
The app asks you to use a nickname and a pet name rather than a real name.
Information we collect
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, address, photos, contacts, location, device identifiers or advertising identifier. There is no sign-up, no account on a server, no analytics and no advertising. The "account" in Mimblo is a profile that exists only on your device.
A few features do involve information that you control. None of it is sent to us.
1. Friends and sharing
A grown-up can choose to share a pet with a friend. A friend code contains only the pet's name, outfit and level. You choose how to send it, for example in Messages or by email, and that service has its own privacy policy. When a friend code is added, the app checks and cleans it, and the friend is saved only on that device. Mimblo has no chat and no way for strangers to contact you. Grown-ups can turn friends and sharing off in the parent area.
2. Notifications (optional)
Reminders are off until a grown-up turns them on in the parent area. If you allow alerts, the app schedules a quiet reminder on your device (for example "your pet would love a snack"). At most one is scheduled at a time, only between 9am and 6pm, and it is cancelled when you open the app. These are created by the app on your device. They do not use a push notification server and nothing about them is sent to us.
3. Backup and restore (optional)
The parent area can create a backup code containing your pet's progress so you can restore it on a new device. You decide where to keep it, for example in Notes. We never receive it. Anyone who has the code could restore your pet, so keep it private. The app only reads your clipboard when you tap "Paste from clipboard".
4. Home Screen widget (optional)
If you add the widget, it shows your pet and how it is feeling. It reads a small amount of game data that is kept on your device and shared only between the app and its widget.
5. Device backups and crash reports
If you back up your device with iCloud or your computer, Apple may include Mimblo's saved data in that backup, under your own Apple account and settings. If you choose to share diagnostics with developers in iOS, Apple may give us anonymous crash information. It does not identify you.
Mimblo does not use the microphone or camera. Sound effects are made inside the app.
How we use information
The app uses the information stored on your device only to run the game: to remember your progress, apply your settings and enforce the parent controls. We do not sell your information, we do not use it for advertising and we do not share it with anyone. The app contains no ads and no in-app purchases.
Who processes your information
Nobody. Mimblo does not use any third-party analytics, advertising or cloud services, and it does not send your game information to any server. Apple provides the iPhone and iPad software and the App Store. If you use a share sheet to send a friend code, the service you choose handles that message.
How long we keep it
We do not hold any information about you. The game data stays on your device until you delete it.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account and all data in the app: open the gear icon, pass the grown-up check, and choose Delete account and all data. This erases the profile, pet, coins, items, friends, daily progress and parental settings from the device, and removes the parent PIN.
- Remove everything on your device by deleting the app.
- Turn off reminders, friends and sharing, sound or vibration at any time in the parent area. Notifications can also be switched off in iPhone or iPad Settings.
Depending on where you live (for example the UK, the European Union or California), you may have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to correct it, to delete it, or to object to how it is used. Because we do not hold any personal information about you, there is nothing for us to provide or delete, and the options above give you full control of the data on your device. If you have a question or request, email us at the address below.
Children
Mimblo is made to be safe for children and is designed for families to play together. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 or the age set by local law. The game does not ask for personal details, has no chat and has no advertising. A grown-up controls the parent area, which is protected by a PIN or a maths question. It sets play-time limits and quiet hours, and can lock the wardrobe, mini-games and friends. If you believe a child has put personal information into a nickname or pet name, you can remove it by deleting the account in the parent area, or contact us and we will help.
Security
Because your information stays on your device, it is protected by your device's own security, such as your passcode. The parent PIN is kept in the iOS Keychain. No system is perfectly secure, but we only keep what the game needs, and it stays with you.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If the changes are significant, we will tell you in the app.
